Black River Elementary

Black River Elementary is the fourth school in the Impact Public School Network, which creates public schools in diverse, underserved communities. Situated in the heart of Renton, this project breathes new life into a former grocery store by converting food aisles into classrooms. The adaptive reuse renovation includes demolishing existing finishes, remediation, bringing structure to current seismic code, and creating 22 classrooms and 27 other rooms (including bathrooms and offices). We planned a tight 9 1/2-month construction schedule to accommodate the owner’s desire to follow a typical school year calendar and have a Fall 2023 opening.
