Building green
For Marpac, “building green” isn’t just an ideology—it’s a practice infused in everything we do. From energy conservation in our offices to establishing recycling procedures at jobsites, we’ve embraced sustainability as a core pillar of our business.
Our attention to detail and customer service is without parallel, as is our dedication to sustainable building construction.
Marpac’s multi-family, mixed-use and affordable North Lot, Sawara, and Othello Square projects are in various stages of the Housing Development Consortium (HDC) Exemplary Building Program to ensure that projects are energy efficient and built cost effectively. We’re also bringing the Living Building Challenge to affordable housing projects through our Othello Square project to support a holistic approach to regenerative buildings.
Additionally, Marpac helped shape the development of the Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard, establishing environmentally friendly construction practices for Washington State. We’re also a certified member of the Built Green program. Many of our Seattle-based projects meet Built Smart certification requirements, and we’ve developed several LEED-certified design and construction methods.
"Working with Marpac on the Puyallup Tribal Housing Authority Longhouse Commons’ Gym has been one of the most pleasant construction projects I have ever been involved with. Marpac has shown itself to be a true partner who wants only the best for their owners. The results of our project substantiate their philosophy and actions."
— Wm. G. Combs, Development Director, Puyallup Tribe
When it comes to building green, we practice what we preach. We build LEED-certified wood-frame, multifamily housing projects in the Pacific Northwest. Our West Seattle Community Resource Center, Country Doctor, and the Artspace Everett Lofts projects received a LEED Silver Certification, and several of our other projects met Green Communities Standard and Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard requirements.
At Marpac, we believe that we can all work together to create a more equitable future for communities that we live, work, and play in, and we build on that goal with every project.
